Please note (New 2012) : You must have a valid fishing license before arriving here at Ruby's Cottage Resort. The MNR have changed their system for issuing outdoors cards & Fishing & Hunting licenses: You can purchase online through their site, and you must print a temporary card from your own computer. Also, only some bait & tackle stores can do it for you (but you could be waiting over 30 minutes/and/or experience some problems). 
Ice fishing is very popular on Boshkung, for lake trout and whitefish. We have fish hut rentals and ice fishing accommodation packages available.
We encourage guests to come in even numbered groups to offset their costs, and maximize use of the hut.
The weekends are busy, plan early and call ahead, or come up when it is quieter during the week.
Transportation to and from your hut is provided, plus bathroom facilities.
For parking space, let us know in advance if you intend to bring your own ATV or sled.

Packages include a dozen minnows/person, per day.
However if you use a lot, you may buy an extra supply at a local bait shop in Haliburton County. Please keep a receipt. There are strict new regulations from the Ontario Government/MNR pertaining to the areas where the bait is purchased.

Hours and Season
Our ice fishing huts are open from 07:30 am to 05:00 pm 7 days a week.

The season for Lake Trout opens on Jan 01, and the season in our district is from Jan 01, to March 31, depending on ice conditions.
Hut Location
Boshkung Lake is one of the larger lakes in Haliburton so the fish move all over. Our huts are located by a point of land, about 80' from the shore, over a drop off from 20' to 70'- 80' gradually falling to 95'. The maximum depth is 220'. It is a well known spot, traveled past by lurking lakers and wary whities.

Safety Policy
Being out in the fresh, cold open air is great, but always remember you're standing on frozen water. Stop, Look and Listen to the ice, stay on or close to traveled areas and your buddies. Ruby's Cottages reserves the right to halt and or cancel ice fishing at our huts, based primarily on weather and ice conditions, as well as client behavior.
Be prepared to present a valid outdoors card/fishing license for the MNR conservation officers.
